The even was not quite like we had expected. There weren't quite as many people milling about in period garb as we had thought there would be. The majority of people were either dressed as pirates, or in Steampunk attire. Another thing that was interesting was that the costuming reflected people's life values of this day and age, not the 1800's.
We got to the festival in time to see the parade which was enjoyable. There was quite an array of people! There was even a high school bagpipe band! Yes, bagpipes! They were amazing! Below are some pictures from the day.

We also saw Jack Sparrow in the parade along with quite a bit of pirates...Not sure what they have to do with Charles Dickens...

The three of us!
Walking around we saw some musicians playing. One guy was playing on drinking glasses! If you have ever seen Benjamin Franklin's glass harmonica, this is the same idea. He was really good! Below is a video of him playing Silent Night per my request:
We went to the Sunflower Bakery to buy a piece of their chocolate dipped pecan pie. We had gone here for dinner one night on our honeymoon, but were too full to get dessert.
If you are ever in Galveston, this a great place to eat at! Their food is delicious!
Driving down Broadway I snapped some pictures of the two mansions we toured on our honeymoon.
This is Bishop's Palace.
Moody Mansion
We also drove by the bed and breakfast we stayed at on our honeymoon.
Coastal Dreams Bed and Breakfast.
If you are looking for a place to stay, this was a lovely place to stay!
